Lighting is important because it is part of a photo. Lighting sets the mood. Diffused: Light scattered on subject, creates soft-lighted photo Direct: Direct light, creates hard-edged, dark shadows Available: Available light whether inside or outside

I really admire the picture of the girl. I love how it is focused on just her, there's no distractions. It tells you a story. Not a once upon a time kind of story, but one that makes you wonder what she's thinking. Or maybe it makes you wonder what shes looking at. Is she admiring or pondering what shes looking at? It's something you'll never know, but something you get to guess yourself. It's whatever you want it to be. She's beautiful. Great photo!

properly lighting a low-key setup will entice your viewers to focus on key points in your scene, and wonder about those dark shadowy areas in the unknown.
