Three fun things I did over Christmas Break:
1. Cross-Country Skiing 2. Had a wonderful Christmas 3. Went to Disneyland for New Years DisasterLooking ForwardOpen BookOpen BookCovering upMy concept is: would you think more about what you said if your words were stuck on your skin?
I really do love the concept, and I had a great idea, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. For me, this project was so hard. The concept that I wanted to get across turned out to be super stressful in photoshop. Every time I tried to warp the words to wrap around the skin, it "configure" for 10 minutes; it was at this point that I gave up. However, I did what I could and I'd say that at least 1-2 of my pictures turned out okay, so that was the rewarding part, I suppose. One of my favorite photographers of all time just happened to be on this list: Steve McCurry. he studied film in Philadelphia, where he was born. Later, he traveled to India where he made his mark by taking beautiful pictures. Today, he spends most of his time photographing in Asian countries, as he did before.
I love everything about his photographs. For the most part, Steve McCurry takes portraits. He is dead-on when it comes to composition and color. Somehow he is able to portray the feeling of the subject. Steve knows how to make the camera work for him, as he has mastered capturing the real feeling of a person and their life. Something that I did good last quarter was staying on top of my projects- taking the pictures, editing fast, and posting. This quarter I'd like to improve by doing extra projects. My goal is to do an additional project of my own every week or two.
Lighting is important because it is part of a photo. Lighting sets the mood. Diffused: Light scattered on subject, creates soft-lighted photo Direct: Direct light, creates hard-edged, dark shadows Available: Available light whether inside or outside
The process of shooting movement comes with a little bit of trial and error, but it is super fun! What worked for me is adjusting the shutter first, then ISO, and then messing with the f/stop (especially in low-light conditions). What didn't work for me was when I tried to use a tripod; I felt like I didn't have as much control. Overall, I had a great experience!
